Matt Kuhn has been working in the emergency environment since 2000. He has worked as a field paramedic and served as a supervisor and education coordinator for a progressive 911 EMS agency in Western North Carolina. Matt also served as the EMS Program Coordinator at Tri-County Community College in Murphy, NC prior to moving back to his home town of Pinehurst to work for FirstHealth of the Carolinas as an EMS Training Officer and Registered Nurse. Matt is a critical care paramedic and has extensive experience providing care to patients who have challenging conditions.

Matt has also worked as a RN in the Trauma ICU at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. Currently he is working as a RN in the Cardiac Cath Lab for FirstHealth of the Carolinas in Pinehurst, NC.

Matt received his original EMS Education at Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst with an AAS in Emergency Medical Science in 2000. Matt is a graduate of Purdue University with a BS in Emergency Management and Criminal Justice. Matt has an additional Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Appalachian State University and an Associate in Science in Nursing from Excelsior College in Albany, NY

Matt serves PreMed as an Instructor for the University of Iowa Critical Care program, lead instructor for the Complex Airway Course, ITLS,  ACLS-EP, National Registry Instructor, as well as an evaluator for National Registry exams.

I am challenged by unique situations that require problem solving. My favorite patients to care for are those who are critically ill, unstable and may have rapidly changing medical conditions. These patients are the most challenging to me and I enjoy being challenged.

Matt is also currently attending the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program at Georgetown University.
